Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has met with Hope & Homes for Children, a charity which helps some of the most vulnerable children around the world, at a reception in Parliament – and offered to highlight their campaign in the House of Commons.
Hope & Homes gives hope to the poorest children in the world – those who are orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable – by enabling them to grow up within the love of a family and the security of a home, so that they can fulfil their potential. For more information on Hope & Homes for Children click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “Hope & Homes is shining light on a little known, but important, issue which I am proud to support. I was shocked to learn that 80% of children in orphanages and other institutions are not actually orphans, but have been given up by desperate parents who feel that they have no other option because there is no support available to them. It is unacceptable to think that we should ever expect any less for children around the world than we expect for our own children here in the UK.”
