Following a fall in unemployment locally, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has reiterated that the Government’s economic recovery is working.
The Office for National Statistics has confirmed that the number of unemployed claimants in Hove and Portslade in December 2012 was 2,086. Encouragingly, the number of claimants is 211 lower than in December 2011 and 20 lower than in November 2012.
Commenting, Mike said: “It is positive news that we are seeing another fall in unemployment in Hove and Portslade. As I said in the summer when we saw another fall in unemployment, the Government’s strategy is yielding some positive signs. But we must not be complacent.”
