Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed two amendments to the Crime & Courts Bill, which call for special measures for ‘very’ vulnerable witnesses.

The amendments to the bill, NC11 and NC12, introduced by Nicola Blackwood MP and Ann Coffey MP, call for special arrangements to be made for very vulnerable witnesses and for intermediaries to be provided for very vulnerable witnesses.

Commenting, Mike said, “The Crime & Courts Bill is an important piece of legislation that will overhaul the Serious Organised Crime Agency, creating a new National Crime Agency, as well as relax the rules on filming in courts. In addition to these changes, I am backing two amendments which call for special arrangements to be made for very vulnerable witnesses.”
