Following the Chancellor’s announcement in the House of Commons this afternoon, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed the new financial plans that will be introduced by the Conservative-led Government.
The Rt Hon George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced a number of key measures in his budget that are aimed to help boost the economy and provide the public with better value for money from the Government. For more information on the budget, click here.
Commenting Mike said, “The Chancellor has introduced a raft of excellent measures which I am sure will help boost our economy. I was particularly pleased to hear that the income tax threshold will be raised to £10,000 in 2014, tax free childcare will be introduced and that we will see a freeze in fuel duty.”
Mike added, “It is also very encouraging to see that policies specifically designed to create jobs through the private sector have taken centre stage, namely the creation of a new employment allowance that should slash National Insurance bills for businesses as well as a cut in corporation tax. I am confident that these changes will be an excellent boost for jobs in Brighton & Hove.”
