Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed economic reforms that came into force this week, which will cut taxes for millions of hard-working people across the country.
As a result of the Government’s changes to income tax, 24 million people across Britain will be paying less tax from 6th April, as the threshold is raised to £9,440. Together with previous tax cuts, 2.2 million people across the country have been brought out of income tax altogether – including an estimated 3,156 who live in Hove and Portslade.
Commenting, Mike said: “Cutting taxes so that people are given a choice as to how to spend their own money is one of the principal tenets of Conservative Party policy, so I am thrilled that 37,472 of my constituents will be better off as a direct result of raising the income tax threshold. I am confident that as the Government’s policies come to fruition, our economy will go from strength to strength.”
