Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is to attend and present an award at 2013 Golden Handbag Awards on Sunday 23rd June at the Brighton Metropole Hotel.
The Golden Handbag Awards, dubbed Brighton & Hove’s very own gay Oscars, raises money for good causes and recognises people and organisations within the local LGBT community. The annual awards were established in 1995 by James Ledward, editor of Gscene. The event has now raised over £100,000 which makes it the largest single fundraiser for LGBT causes in Brighton & Hove. For more on the awards, visit www.gscene.com.
Commenting, Mike said: “I was delighted to be asked to present an award at this year’s Golden Handbag event. Brighton & Hove has a thriving LGBT community and this annual event has raised a considerable sum of money for local charities and good causes.”
