Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has hailed changes introduced by the Department for Communities & Local Government that have passed more and more powers back to residents.
Mike’s colleague the Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government, has been spearheading a campaign of delivering Conservative policies at the heart of local government. New changes include: Cutting local taxes for families and firms; Axing quangos and cutting waste; Helping homeowners; Improving the planning system; Tackling political correctness; and devolving power to local communities.
Commenting, Mike said: “It’s really great to be part of a team that is cutting waste and red tape. The Department for Communities & Local Government has been one of the most successful departments at reforming the tired old ways of the Left and we are now seeing real improvements right across the country. Most importantly, we are seeing a shift of power from central government into the hands of local people.”
