On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has wished Jews in his constituency Shanah Tovah, which is Hebrew for ‘good year’.
Hove and Portslade have a large and vibrant Jewish population and Mike is keen to extend his good wishes to this important community. This year, Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset on Wednesday 4th September and ends at nightfall on Friday 6th September.
Since his election in 2010, Mike has visited a number of the synagogues in Hove to discuss a range of important issues that affect his Jewish constituents.
Commenting, Mike said: “Rosh Hashanah is an important part of the year in the Jewish calendar and I know that a lot of families will be getting together at this special time. I want to wish all my Jewish constituents a Shanah Tovah.”
