Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed an Early Day Motion (EDM) that calls on the Government to bring forward the completion of a Coastal Path.
EDM 497 (England Coast Path) urges the Government to bring forward the completion of the full path without delay, noting that the path was originally to be completed in 2019. Mike heard the concerns of Brighton & Hove Ramblers when he recently joined them on a walk around his constituency. Mike believes that once completed, the path will help create real jobs and bring economic regeneration to a number of poor rural communities.
Commenting, Mike said: “Appreciating the beautiful coastal scenery in my constituency and around Britain is always an enjoyable experience. This is why I think it is so important to get the England Coastal path back on track and why I wholeheartedly support this motion. I am pleased to see that it has drawn such broad support from all parties and I hope that this gives the project a much needed boost.”
