Following the announcement that Chief Constable Martin Richards is to retire in 2014, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has praised the dedicated public servant for his commitment over his career.
Martin Richards, Chief Constable of Sussex Police, announced his retirement after nearly 32 years in policing and nine years as Chief Constable. Mike has worked closely with Martin on policing matters since he was elected as an MP in 2010 and knows how dedicated he is to his role leading Sussex Police. Martin will step down from his post in March 2014.
Commenting, Mike said: “Martin Richards has been a great leader of Sussex Police over the past nine years. He is widely respected and has, in my view, helped to make Sussex Police the finest police force in the country. I wish him a happy and well deserved retirement.”
