Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has is delighted that his colleague the Rt Hon George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is to announce that the Royal Sussex County Hospital is to receive a £420 million redevelopment fund.
Mike, along with his colleague Simon Kirby MP, has been lobbying Ministers for new funding for the Brighton & Sussex NHS Hospitals Trust, which has plans to redevelop the Royal Sussex County Hospital site. Funding was initially promised by Labour but never actually materialised.
Commenting, Mike said: “This funding is excellent news for NHS provision in Brighton & Hove. A new, state-of-the-art hospital has been long overdue and I am pleased that the Government has listened to the needs of local residents. While the redevelopment will take a number of years to complete, this announcement is a strong commitment from the Government to provide long-term quality healthcare suitable for the 21st century.”
