Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has praised Mayberry Garden Centre for their generous support of a local community garden by providing some desperately needed equipment, after receiving a call for help in his newsletter.
In one of Mike’s recent weekly emails to residents, a call was made for anyone with a spare wheelbarrow to get in touch with the Secret Garden Group in Hove. Following the plea, Darren Clift from the Mayberry Garden Centre got in touch and kindly offered three wheelbarrows for the local gardeners.
Commenting, Mike said: “I am delighted that following my email to residents, a generous response was immediately received from Mayberry in Portslade. The Secret Garden is a wonderful local project and I know that these three wheelbarrows have already been well used.”
Darren Clift, Mayberry Garden Centre Manager, added: “Mayberry Garden Centre, as well as the other two centres in our family run Tates group are committed to getting involved in community projects. We actively seek out initiatives that benefit the people living near our garden centres, and this project is exactly what appeals- the combination of both gardening and community spirit. We are delighted to be able to help and hope the wheelbarrows are put to good use.”
Commenting, Joi Jones, Secret Garden Group Secretary said: “The Secret Garden Group is immensely grateful to Mayberry Garden Centre for donating some wheelbarrows. They will be invaluable in helping us to complete many of our planned projects at the Secret Garden and will enable more of the community to get involved.”
