On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has paid tribute to both veterans and those who died fighting on the day that changed the course of the Second World War.
Special commemorative services are taking place across Britain and France today as world leaders gather in Normandy to mark the anniversary of D-Day, which took place on 6th June 1944.
Commenting, Mike said: “D-Day is an extremely important part of our shared history and so marking this 70th anniversary is a very special occasion. It is only right that so many world leaders have gathered in Northern France today to recognise the sacrifices that were made 70 years ago. Our debt to the fallen will never fade.”
