Ann Norman

As someone who was born in Brighton and lived here ever since, my vision for a Conservative Administration in Brighton and Hove is to develop policies that enhance a vibrant city but reflect the often expressed views of residents on unrealistic traffic schemes, street cleanliness and tackling graffiti.

Your Conservative Council seeks to deliver a budget which is also fair and affordable for everyone including our most vulnerable residents and includes a Council Tax minimum increase guarantee. Policies must be focussed, be fair for all sections of our diverse community, affordable and protect key provision services such as Adult Social Care and Health facilities and Community Care provision as priorities.

Ann was first elected to represent Westdene Ward at the Shadow Unitary Authority Elections held in 1995 and continues to represent what is currently known as Withdean Ward extended in the boundary changes in 2003. Ann has served on what was previously known as the Education Committee, been Opposition Spokesperson is Vice-Chair on the Adult Social Care and Health Committee, and is currently Conservative Finance Spokesperson serving in this capacity on the Policy and Resources Committee, and Chair of the Finance Management Sub Committee. Ann is a LEA governor at Westdene Primary School and until recently has Chaired the Governing Body of the Alternative Centre for Education, a Special School for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties where she still remains a member of the governing body.

Relaxation: Watching Brighton and Hove Albion although at present that is not always relaxing. Hobbies: Silver - our beautiful cat and Rosie, Lois Lane and Farlee our boisterous Tibetan Terriers.

Ken Norman

I was born in Brighton, and have lived here ever since. I have worked in Brighton all my life, except for just 18 months.

I was elected for Westdene Ward in 2002, at a by-election, to represent the residents of the larger and newly formed Withdean Ward in 2003.

I am the Conservative spokesman on the Adult Social Care committee and also serve on the Children, Families and Schools , and Environment committee, as well as the Planning Applications sub committee. I wish to see a Conservative Administration in Brighton and Hove progress policies that turn our current city into a world class city for which all its citizens can be justly proud. We need to reassess all aspects of city life including how we deal with environmental, planning, education and social care aspects so that they reflect the requirements of all our citizens. Car parking controls and unrealistic traffic schemes all need to be reviewed as does council tax which needs to be affordable for all residents.

Your Conservative Council will strive to deliver policies that will be fair for everyone in our diverse community.

In my amount of spare time, I watch Brighton and Hove Albion, enjoy a wide range of music, care for our Bonsai collection and fly radio controlled model aircraft. My wife Ann and I also have one cat and three Tibetan Terriers.
