Mike Weatherley, the Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, and founder of Rock the House (www.rockthehouse.me.uk), has met with Deep Purple rock star Ian Gillan who has become the latest patron of the competition.
Ian Gillan, lead singer and lyricist for Deep Purple, was really pleased to be involved with the Rock the House project and labelled Mike’s plans ‘brilliant’. The competition was set up to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights and copyright protection. After the success of the first competition earlier this year, Rock the House will be coming back even louder in 2012.
Commenting, Mike said: “It was great to meet Ian and discuss what Rock the House is doing to help safeguard the industry for the future. The project really is going from strength to strength. Along with some very generous, well known sponsors, we’ve now got Ian Gillan and Alice Cooper as patrons. This is good news for the creative talent in my own Hove constituency.”
