Mike has met with James Lowman, Chief Executive of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), in Parliament to discuss the importance of small shops to our economy.
ACS, the voice of local shops, represents over 33,500 convenience stores. Mike and James discussed with retailers their concerns on a range of issues, including increases in business rates and tackling underage sales.
Commenting, Mike said: “It’s essential that Members of Parliament support the causes of local shops up in Westminster. They really are at the heart of our communities and we must to everything they can to ensure that they succeed in this difficult economic time. My constituency is full of small shops and this is one of the best features of the area.”
