Glucose test

Mike has called on residents to check their blood glucose levels as part of a campaign to raise awareness of diabetes.

Mike has had his blood glucose levels checked in Parliament as the International Diabetes Federation is keen to improve of the signs and symptoms of the disease and the steps that can be taken for its prevention. Around three million people have been diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and this figure is expected to rise over the coming years. A further estimated one million people have the condition but do not realise it.

If caught early, diabetes can be actively managed to mitigate the potentially serious consequences of the disease. For more information, please see the International Diabetes Federation website

Commenting, Mike said: Early detection of diabetes is really important for treating the disease. I am pleased to have the opportunity to have my blood tested and would encourage people in Hove and Portslade to make sure that they get regular check-ups.
