Mike has signed the Holocaust Memorial Day Book of Commitment.
Friday 27th January will mark the 67th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history. In the weeks running up to the day, the Holocaust Educational Trust placed a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons to give Members of Parliament the chance to honour those who were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust. Many members of the public have used the day as an opportunity to actively speak out against prejudice and bigotry. For more information, please see visit the Holocaust Education Trust’s website – www.het.org.uk.
Commenting, Mike said: “Holocaust Memorial Day is a sobering reminder of the terrible genocide that took place during the Holocaust. Looking to the future, it also reminds us of the importance of challenging all forms of bigotry. I would encourage anyone who wants to learn about the excellent work of the Holocaust Education Trust to visit their website.”
