Rise in Apprenticeships in Hove Welcomed by Mike

Mike has welcomed news that the number of apprenticeships in Hove is up by nearly 10% on the previous year.

Earlier in the week, Mike asked the Minister for Further Education, Skills & Lifelong Learning, John Hayes MP, for Government figures on apprenticeships around the country. The minister reported that: “For the academic year 2010-11, final data for young people aged under 19 show that there were 110 apprenticeship starts in Hove constituency, which is an increase of 8% on the 2009-10 figure.”

Commenting, Mike said: “These figures are a great indication that young people are getting valuable employment that they need. Combined with falling unemployment figures, this is a positive development in helping people get jobs and contributing towards our economic recovery.”
