Conservatives to select Police & Crime Commissioner candidate next month

You will be aware that Police & Crime Commissioner elections are to be held on November 15th this year. This is an important piece of government legislation and Conservative Party members in Sussex will have a vital role in selecting the Party’s candidate for the county by attending and voting at the Members General Meeting to be held on Saturday 14th July.

A shortlist of between 2 and 4 candidates to be interviewed at this Members General Meeting will have been voted on by a Selection Council consisting of the Chairman plus two representatives from each Sussex Association, all Sussex Conservative MPs and the Area Officers.

The details of the Sussex Members General Meeting are as follows:

Saturday 14th July 2012 at the Triangle Leisure Centre, Triangle Way, Burgess Hill, West Sussex RH15 8WA. Registration is from 2.30pm and the meeting will start at 3.30pm. Jonathan Isaby, Political Director of the Tax Payers Alliance will be the meeting’s moderator. It is envisaged that the meeting will end at 7pm. Refreshments are available at the bar, although as the bar area is not substantial members may wish to bring their own refreshments. There is adequate car parking.

It is essential to note that, in order for members to be qualified to vote at this meeting, they must have been paid up for at least three months prior to July 14th. Please ensure that you arrive in good time as only members present to hear all applicants will be eligible to vote at the conclusion of the meeting, and voting will be by secret ballot. Postal and proxy voting is not allowed.

Each candidate’s CV will be provided to members when they arrive at the Members General Meeting. In order to assist with arrangements could members please register your attendance with the Brighton and Hove Conservatives office either by emailing us on office@brightonandhoveconservatives.com or telephone 729243.
