Residents Must be Cautious of Council Tax Scam

Mike has warned residents to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited calls from people who claim to be offering a Council Tax refund.

Following a warning by Brighton & Hove City Council for the public to beware of bogus calls from fraudsters claiming to work for the Council Tax Department, Mike has reiterated that residents must be on their guard when receiving unsolicited calls. If anyone has any questions, they should get in touch with the Council Tax Department directly on 01273 291291.

Commenting, Mike said: “As much as people find the sound of a tax refund appealing, it is important to exercise caution when approached by someone claiming to represent a government body or company in an official capacity. If in doubt, contact Brighton & Hove City Council directly and always remember – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
