Mike is encouraging residents to enjoy the Olympic Celebrations as the Torch comes to Brighton & Hove on Monday 16th July.
The Olympic Torch Relay is coming to the city on Monday 16th July at 17:55 as part of its route across the country, before the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Official celebrations are being held at Hove Park (free and open to the public) and Sussex County Cricket Ground (ticketed event – sold out). For more information on the celebrations, click here.
Having realised that initially only Brighton was included in the relay, Mike wrote to Lord Coe to highlight the importance of including Hove as part of the official relay route. When the final route was published, Mike was thrilled that Hove had been included.
Commenting, Mike said: “This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to join together and celebrate Britain hosting the Olympics. Following my letter to Lord Coe, I was delighted to learn that Hove was to be included in the Torch route. I hope that everyone enjoys the arrival of the Torch to our wonderful city – whether that is on the streets along the route, at Hove Park’s open celebrations or the Hove Cricket Ground event.”
