Mike has sponsored Early Day Motion (EDM) 284 to highlight issues surrounding the reform of Intellectual Property legislation.

EDM 284, which has received cross-party support, stresses the importance of Intellectual Property laws and calls on the Government to ensure that changes to legislation take into consideration the wide-ranging consequences that it will have on the creative industries which make a huge economic as well as cultural contributions to the UK. Mikes Rock the House parliamentary music competition highlights these issues and encourages young musicians to pursue their talent at the same time as assuring them that their work will be protected.

Commenting, Mike said: Intellectual Property is vitally important for a whole number of reasons both economic and cultural which is why reform of the current legislation must not damage in any way the protection that is afford to the creative industries. I will of course continue to monitor any relevant developments closely.
