Mike has hailed the lasting economic benefits that will result from Britain hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, which are set to be to be delivered on time and under budget.
The Government estimates that the Games will bring over £13 billion to the UK economy – a large increase in tourism is expected following an international campaign centred on the Olympics and during the Games, the British Business Embassy will initiate 3,500 meetings between UK companies and potential oversees buyers in a quest to boost trade.
Commenting, Mike said: “I’m really looking forward to following the Games. It is a fantastic opportunity for Britain to show the world that it is a leader in sport, as well as an excellent place to visit and to do business. While the next couple of months will very much focus on the Games themselves, I know that a strong legacy is in place to ensure that we will continue to reap the reward of hosting the 2012 Olympic Games for many years to come.”
