Mike has signed a petition which calls on Brighton & Hove City to produce a Planning Brief for the dilapidated Medina House on the Hove seafront.
Medina House was built as a saltwater bathhouse in 1893. The Royal Doulton tiling of the main pool area was distinctive and remains of importance historically and socially. However, the building has been vacant for a number of years now and more recently has been occupied by quasi-squatters. Residents and local conservationists have been campaigning for the baths to be sympathetically redeveloped. To sign the petition, click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “Action is well overdue. For too long Brighton & Hove City Council has dragged its feet over Medina House. I have been campaigning for some time now for a co-ordinated approach, first to evict the squatters and then to address the future of the historic building. My colleague Cllr Andrew Wealls has been on the case too and is leading the fight locally. I urge anybody who cares about the building to sign as soon as possible.”
