Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has announced a visit by his ministerial colleague to Portslade on Thursday 20th September.

Baroness Hanham CBE, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Communities & Local Government, who has responsibility for the European Regional Development Fund, is visiting Brighton & Hove to see some of the citys European-funded projects.

As part of her tour of the city, Baroness Hanham will visit the Learning Cities Interreg project and open the Portslade Learning Centre on Boundary Road, which offers a broad framework of lifelong learning opportunities for adults. Interreg is financed through the European Regional Development Fund. More information on the programme is available here.

Commenting, Mike said: Baroness Hanhams visit to Portslade is an excellent chance for a Government minister to see first-hand the important work that is being done to boost education and employment opportunities within Brighton & Hove. The Government is committed to fostering aspiration across all ages and I know that the Baroness takes a keen interest in the voluntary and charitable sectors.
