Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is backing the annual Burning the Clocks celebration as the charity behind the event seeks contributions to make sure that the 2012 burning can go ahead as planned.
Burning the Clocks combines a family lantern procession with a spectacular fire and fireworks show, to wish goodbye to the old year and usher in the new. It is run by Same Sky, an artist-led charity that produces high quality arts projects with participation and legacy.
The event, which is free, takes place on 21st December, the shortest day of the year. The procession route is suitable for all ages and abilities. More information on the event and its charitable background can be found at www.samesky.co.uk. To help the event take place this year, click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “Community events like Burning the Clocks are fantastic attractions that help cement Brighton & Hove as a truly unique and vibrant city. Sadly the funding for this year’s event is below target, so I would encourage businesses and residents who want to support the celebration to visit the fundraising website.”
