Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has signed a letter to George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, highlighting the need for extra train capacity in Sussex, ahead of tomorrow’s Autumn Statement, along with a number of Sussex MPs.
Since his election to Parliament, Mike has continually lobbied the Government to review the rail capacity from London to the South East. A number of MPs from across the county signed the letter, including Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, and Charles Hendry MP, former Minister of State for Energy & Climate Change.
Commenting, Mike said: “Every single commuter who struggles to get a seat in the morning knows that the train line to London is at full capacity. That is why I was more than happy to add my name to a letter to the Chancellor that highlights the plight faced by commuters right across Sussex, particularly in Brighton & Hove.”
