Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is backing a funding boost of almost £1m for local transport in Brighton & Hove between now and 2015.

The Government recently announced an additional £215m maintenance fund that is being provided to help local authorities renew and repair their local road networks. Brighton & Hove City Council will receive an additional £594,000 in 2013-2014 and £325,000 in 2014-2015 to help towards road maintenance projects.

Commenting, Mike said: “This funding boost is excellent news for Brighton & Hove. Continued road maintenance is vital to ensuring that our local infrastructure continues to run smoothly and I know that this extra funding from the Government will be a great help to improving the roads in our city.”
