Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has called on local businesses to take up the opportunities that are offered by the Export Marketing Research Scheme (EMRS), which is funded by UK Trade & Investment, a Government body that works closely with the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

The EMRS helps small companies with between 5 and 250 employees reach sound decisions when approaching a new overseas market. The EMRS provides independent advice, at no charge, on carrying out marketing research. In addition, companies may be eligible for a grant of up to 50% of the cost of conducting research. Commenting, Mike said: Businesses now have to compete with companies all around the world, so I would urge any local businesses that qualify to make use of this market research scheme that is backed by UK Trade & Investment. All too often a lack of information is an enormous barrier to entry to a new market, so I hope that the EMRS will help British businesses and particularly those in my constituency compete on the world stage.
