Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is drawing attention to a petition to ban Foie Gras.
The petition (full wording below) calls for a ban of the production and importation of Foie Gras across the whole of Europe. To sign the petition, click here.
Mike is a strong supporter of animal welfare and has pledged to vote against any attempt to repeal the Hunting Act. Mike has consistently voted in favour of animal rights and has supported a number of campaigns for better treatment of animals in the UK.
Commenting, Mike said: “While Foie Gras may be a sought after delicacy, the reality is that its production is extremely cruel and completely inconsistent with the standards of animal welfare that we expect in this country. Britain is generally a beacon for looking out for animals, so as long as we continue to condone Foie Gras we will remain at odds with that important status.”
