Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed a course that is to be provided by the University of Brighton to help local employers train staff.
Brighton University received a £92,000 grant from the Government to fund a training programme for staff from businesses across the city. The university has already worked with FDM, a leading international IT services provider, the Priory Group and the RAF to develop in-house training to suit each employer’s specific needs.
The government funding enables Brighton University to offer tailor-made courses to businesses of any size on their own premises. Alternatively, employers can access training vouchers worth up to £500 for them to send individual members of staff on a University of Brighton course. Commenting, Mike said: “Boosting the skills of staff is a valuable asset for any business. Continued professional development is also a great way to engage employees and help a business stay ahead of their competitors. I would encourage employers from across Brighton & Hove to get in touch with Brighton University to see what courses are available to them.”
