Mike Encourages Residents to Get Gardening

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is backing local organisers of a gardening Action Day on Tuesday 18th June from 11am-3pm.

The event is taking place in the Secret Garden, behind St Leonards Church on New Church Road in Hove. The aim of the Action Day is to show local residents the work of the Secret Garden Group which is turning an overgrown corner of the church site into a community allotment of fruit and vegetables that is to be enjoyed by all. Anybody who wishes to talk, help or simply watch will be very welcome. There is no need to book in advance.

Commenting, Mike said: This is a wonderful community project that would be great to see replicated elsewhere around the city. Making good use of our outdoor spaces has a wide range of benefits for society, so I do hope that anyone with a keen interest in gardening will pop down on Tuesday to see what the Secret Garden is all about.
