Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has called on residents to prepare for weeks of disruption, as Brighton & Hove GMB/Labour refuse collectors prepare to strike.

Mike has received a huge amount of correspondence from residents who feel that they have been left in the dark and are worried about the implications of rubbish not being collected. Robert Knight, the Conservative candidate for the Hanover & Elm Grove by-election, has met hundreds of residents on the streets who are angry at the Green administration for not addressing this issue in a way that would have avoided the GMB/Labour strike.

Commenting, Mike said: The chaos of a GMB/Labour one-week strike will be felt across Brighton & Hove way after the refuse workers have actually gone back to work, given the enormous backlog that will have amassed. Theres a backlog even now, before the strike has gone ahead. I am disappointed to have to say that residents are going to need to prepare themselves for weeks of disruption.
