EU Referendum Bill Backed by Mike

Mike Weatherley and James Wharton

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is delighted to be supporting his colleague James Wharton MP, who is introducing a Private Members Bill which, if not stopped becoming law by Labour and the Liberal Democrats, will mean that the British people will have an in/out vote on whether Britain stays in the EU in 2017.

Currently, only one of the main three political parties believes the British people deserve a say on the EU: the Conservatives. This bill will need the support of either Labour or Lib Dem MPs to pass. Some issues are bigger than party politics It’s time to Let Britain Decide. Commenting, Mike said: The EU has drastically changed, yet its been nearly 40 years since the British people have had a say on our relationship with Europe. We need a new settlement and the people should then have their say on a renegotiation in an in/out referendum before the end of 2017. I have heard from nearly 2000 residents that want a referendum, which is why I am proud to be a Member of the only major party offering this choice.
