Following another fall in unemployment locally, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has reiterated that the Government’s economic recovery is working.
The Office for National Statistics has confirmed that the number of unemployed claimants in Hove and Portslade in June 2013 was 1,901. Encouragingly, the number of claimants is 201 lower than in June 2012 and 72 lower than in May 2013.
Commenting, Mike said: “Once again, it is great news that we have seen another fall in unemployment in Hove and Portslade. Combined with the announcement by the Office for National Statistics that the UK economy grew in the three months up to June, it is a very positive outlook for the country. I have no doubt that this is down to the hard work of my Conservative colleagues in Government to help address issues holding back our economy and to create an environment where new jobs can thrive.”
