Hangleton Park Protection a Huge Success

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has praised new protections that have been afforded to a beloved park in Hangleton after it received a Fields in Trust award.

Fields in Trust status provides special protection for parks, which will effectively stop any kind of building on the park. As well as receiving protection in perpetuity, Fields in Trust provided local residents with bunting, games and sports equipment to help celebrate the award. A family fun day took place on Saturday 31st August. For more information on Fields in Trust, visit www.fieldsintrust.org.

Nick Lewry, Vice-chair of Friends of Hangleton Park, is pictured along with Mike, Cllr Tony Janio and Cllr Dawn Barnett. Nick was instrumental in securing the award for Hangleton Park, which is one of seven parks in Brighton & Hove to have received the Fields in Trust award.

Commenting, Mike said: I was delighted when Hangleton Park received Fields in Trust protection. Credit must go to Nick and the team from the Friends of Hangleton Park, as well as local councillors Tony Janio and Dawn Barnett for all their hard work in securing this important safeguard. Residents can now be assured that this lovely park will continue to serve as a fantastic community asset as it is protected from any kind of development.
