Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed newly-selected Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Brighton Pavilion, Clarence Mitchell.

Clarence, who brings a wealth of valuable political experience to the city, was selected to stand in Brighton Pavilion seat for the 2015 General Election in July. Clarence currently heads up the Media Department for the European, Middle East & Africa division of leading PR firm Burson-Marsteller. Clarence is a former Director of the UK Governments Media Monitoring Unit and had a successful 20-year career with the BBC as a presenter and news correspondent.

Having been selected as a candidate for the 2015 General Election, Clarence is now working with local residents to address the issues that affect them. From discussions on the doorstep, Clarence has quickly built up a picture of how a substantial amount of residents feel completely unrepresented by the incumbent. Clarence is determined to change this and his campaign website will soon go live at www.clarence4pavilion.com.

Commenting, Mike said: Clarence is an excellent candidate for the Pavilion seat and I have no doubt that his impressive professional background will stand him in good stead to represent residents in Parliament. I look forward to working with Clarence on the myriad of issues that Brighton & Hove faces as a city in what will be an exciting and important election.

Commenting, Clarence said: Being selected to fight such an inclusive, diverse and vibrant seat as Brighton Pavilion is an absolute honour and I’m very much looking forward to working closely with Mike in Hove and Portslade. We need to ensure that Brighton & Hove recovers from the failure of Green politics and that the city gains Tory MPs with strong, distinctive voices in Parliament; MPs who will deliver on every local issue that matters.”
