Mike Encourages Residents to Get their Gardening Shoes on

At the beginning of Brighton & Hoves third Big Dig week, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is calling on residents to don their gardening gear and get involved in a local initiative.

The fundamental aim of the Big Dig is simple: promote gardening. In Brighton & Hove, 25 gardens are open throughout the week, which culminates in a nationwide edible garden open day on Saturday 21st September. For more information on the week and gardens in your area, click here.

Locally, the Secret Garden Club in Hove is holding two events during the Big Dig. The first is on Wednesday 18th from 11:00-14:00 and the second is on Saturday 21st from 11:00-14:00. The Secret Garden is behind St Leonards Church, New Church Road, Hove, BN3 4ED. Volunteers are encouraged just to turn up.

Commenting, Mike said: Community gardening is a wonderful way to connect with the local neighbourhood and help out on a positive community project. Hove has a number of worthwhile gardening ventures underway as part of the Big Dig so I hope that residents will get their gardening gear on and visit one of their local gardens.
