Mike Wishes Jewish Residents an Easy Fast on Yom Kippur

On the eve of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has wished his Jewish residents an Easy Fast, a common Jewish greeting for Yom Kippur.

‘Tzom kal’, Hebrew for Easy Fast, is a greeting commonly used at Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is a solemn day of reflection and atonement and Mike is keen to extend his thoughts to the Jewish community within his constituency on this important day. This year, Yom Kippur begins at sunset on Friday 13th September and ends at nightfall on Saturday 14th September.

Since his election in 2010, Mike has visited a number of the synagogues in Hove to discuss a range of important issues that affect his Jewish constituents.

Commenting, Mike said: “Yom Kippur is the most important day of the year in the Jewish calendar, so many of my constituents will be marking the occasion by attending synagogue, fasting, and concluding with a festive meal. I wish all the Jewish residents of Hove and Portslade an Easy Fast.”
