Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed a huge fundraising drive that is set to take place at the Preston Park Velodrome and praised the determination of all those taking part in this impressive charity event.
Pedal in Preston Park takes place on Saturday 26th October, when fundraising cyclists will attempt to ride 9,500km (16,000 laps) to help numerous good causes. Disabled participants will also be helping to raise money by undertaking laps in wheelchairs. For more information and to donate, visit www.pedalinprestonpark.co.uk.
The Preston Park Velodrome is the oldest bicycle track in the country and has a wonderful place in Brighton & Hove’s sporting history. Construction, by hand, started in 1877 and it has been used ever since. Use of the track is free throughout the day. For more details on the Velodrome, click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “Pedal in Preston Park is an exciting and unique event that will hopefully raise a significant sum for some very commendable charities. I am delighted that a whole host of people are taking part and that wheelchair users will be adding to the lap count. I wish everyone the best of luck for the day.”
