Home Secretary to Join Mike on Visit to New National IP Crime Unit

Mike Weatherley, Intellectual Property Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is delighted that the Home Secretary has accepted his invitation to visit the newly-formed Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU), which tackles IP crime across the country.

Mike recently wrote to both the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon David Cameron MP, and the Rt Hon Theresa May MP, Home Secretary, to praise the excellent work of PIPCU, which is based at the City of London Police. PIPCU is currently funded by the Intellectual Property Office. In his letter to the Home Secretary, Mike extended an invitation for her to join him to see first-hand some of the excellent work that the unit undertakes.

Commenting, Mike said: “I am delighted that my colleague Theresa May will be joining me on a visit to PIPCU. I have been very impressed with the work of the IP crime unit and am sure that the Home Secretary will recognise just how important a dedicated team tacking IP issues is to our country.”
