Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has taken part in National Care Home Open Day, which was held at the end of June, by visiting Pembroke Lodge in Hove.
National Care Home Open Day is run by a group of leading care providers and associations every year. The day aims to connect care homes with their local communities and challenge long-standing prejudices about residential care.
Mike visited Pembroke Lodge to help highlight that the headlines around residential care too often focus on care failures and rarely on the daily successes. For more information on National Care Home Open Day, click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “It was really nice to visit the residents and staff at Pembroke Lodge, led by Sue Brand. Care homes play an enormously important role in looking after elderly and vulnerable residents across the country so do deserve positive praise. There was a lovely atmosphere at the garden party that was being held and it was a good opportunity to discuss some of the great work that care homes do for our communities.”
