Goldsmid By Election

Are you fed up like Louis Bird?

I'm sure you are. Because Labour, with their endless U-turns, higher taxes, and broken promises, are dragging us down. Just think of all their broken promises: cutting Winter Fuel Payments for pensioners; the Family Farm Tax; soaring pub business rates; welfare reforms that hurt working people; capping student loans and postponing elections. They only seem to know how to raise taxes and break promises. The Greens would be even more horrific (see below). Labour or the Greens: the result is the same. Things can only get worse. But it doesn’t have to be like this. I was born and raised in Brighton & Hove. I’m currently studying Maths, History and Politics at BHASVIC, and I’m deeply passionate about politics: not the Westminster games, but about delivering real, everyday results for the people who live in the city.

Trust me to lead the renewal of Goldsmid. Together, we can turn things around.

The Greens are even crazier - here are a few of their bonkers policies

Legalising hard drugs (this won’t help our struggling communities); scrapping meaningful border controls; abandoning Trident (while Russia continues to expand its nuclear arsenal); banning domestic flights; banning landlords; stopping all new oil and gas drilling (forcing us to import every bit we need); and abolishing exams in secondary schools. This isn’t ‘progressive’ politics. It’s a form of ideological madness that would make everyday life in Brighton & Hove even harder, more expensive, and less safe.

You can help stop the madness. Join the Conservatives today or donate to our campaign and become part of the solution — do not remain fed up with Labour and The Greens. Every new member and every donation helps our fight back (use the buttons on this page)

St Anne's Well Gardens has seen better days?

Wander round this park and you get the sense it's seen better days. St Anne's Well Gardens was once a beautiful green space, but is now looking tired and neglected: graffiti covers the walls, litter is scattered across the grass - even the bins are looking sad. Under Labour and the Greens, budgets for our parks have been slashed. They’re pouring money into wasteful projects in Valley Gardens while quietly ignoring neighbourhood parks like St Anne’s Well Gardens.  Even our park rangers have been cut. This is what happens when local priorities are completely out of touch with the people who actually live here.

Labour wants to nationalise our buses

Don't let the council take over our buses. Brighton & Hove’s buses are fantastic, having improved immeasurably since privatisation; they are one of the best run services in the entire country. Because Labour slashed subsidies for young people fares have shot up. But the answer is not to let the council seize control by nationalising the buses. The services will be ruined: just like everything they have meddled with. Look at the evidence: in Manchester, bus usage has grown, but only by 19%, much
lower than many other towns such as Bristol, which stayed private, and where bus usage has surged by 33% in the last two years and for much less money spent per passenger. Buses in Manchester are also earning much less than expected creating a big financial hole. Leave our excellent local bus service alone. Don’t let Labour destroy what actually works.

Kemi Badenoch is the most popular political leader in the country

Why? Because Kemi knows what is needed to turn this country around - getting people back to work, especially young people; cutting our energy costs; ending high street business rates; scrapping stamp duty and doubling the number of apprenticeships.

Vote Louis Bird Thursday 25th June to help make these policies a reality
