Advice Services are held in the Malcolm Young Room of the Church of the Ascension, Mill Rise, Westdene, on the second Monday of each month, 6 – 7pm and at Crowhurst Hall, Knoyle Road, Preston Village on the fourth Monday of each month, 4 – 5pm (except December). No appointments are necessary at either Advice Service. Local newsletters are delivered on relevant ward issues when appropriate
Ken worked at the University of Sussex as a physics research/engineering technician. He took early retirement and was elected as a Councillor for Westdene Ward in 2002, now known as Withdean Ward.
Ken is currently a Member of Keep the Ridge Green Group (KTRG), Supporter of The Withdean and Westdene and Eldred Avenue Copse Keepers (TWEACK), a Friend of Withdean Park, a Supporter of Friends of Westdene Green (FOWG) and a Trustee of Brighton Philharmonic Society.
He is also a trustee of Gorham’s Gift, which is a trust that manages a large part of the Telscombe estate.
Ken was born in, and has always lived, in Brighton. He has been a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter for most of his life and is currently a 1901 Club Member
He was Mayor’s Consort 2009-2010.
Ken is a past President and Chairman of the Brighton Pavilion Conservative Association (BPCA) and past Chairman of the Brighton Conservative Association (BCA).
Outside of politics he is a past Chairman of the Federation of British Bonsai Societies and the current President of the Sussex Bonsai Group.
Ken and his wife Cllr Ann Norman are multiple Chelsea Flower Gold Medal winners and Ken is a Royal Horticultural Society Accredited Judge specialising in hardy woddy plants and related subjects.
He is also the current Deputy Chairman of the Brighton Radio Flying Club (BRFC).
Ken believes in serving his residents, whatever their political persuasion, to the best of his abilities and supporting our community in any way he can. He is committed to being open minded and fair in everything he does without thought of personal gain whatsoever.
